Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Sr. Consultant, Communications to develop and execute corporate communications plans and campaigns for internal and external audiences.  


Reporting to the SVP, Communications & Public Affairs, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of Zurich Canada’s communications strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for engaging the Zurich Canada team through creative internal communications and translating these strategies for external audiences, while managing activities that promote, enhance and protect Zurich Canada’s reputation.

Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.

What you will do

- Develop and implement impactful internal and external communications strategies and plans to support and promote key business strategies
- Oversee, assist, and manage content and materials for internal and external audiences across a variety of platforms
- Leverage communications tactics and channels in creative and impactful ways
- Provide communications support for strategic priorities and business projects in line with Zurich Canada communications standards, processes and governance


Internal Communications:
- Create and implement the internal content strategy for consistent and transparent messaging
- Provide essential communications support to Zurich Canada’s leadership team
- Define internal cadence and mechanisms to keep employees informed on important corporate initiatives
- Lead communications planning and execution for HR initiatives that impact the organization
- Develop and maintain internal communication calendars and project plans; provide regular updates to stakeholders, and determine metrics for effectiveness
- Plan and lead large-scale employee events


External Communications:
- Responsible for media monitoring and external issues management
- Manage and support external communications planning
- Support executive communications and thought leadership opportunities, including high-profile media appearances, interviews, speaking engagements, and industry forums
- Support the leadership team in interactions with media by providing messaging counsel and coaching, and proactively identify opportunities to drive earned media

Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table

- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations and 7 or more years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Media Relations, or Public Relations  
  OR
- Associate Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations and 7 or more years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Media Relations, or Public Relations  
  OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Media Relations, or Public Relations  
  AND
- 5 or more years developing and implementing complex internal and external corporate communications plans


Preferred:
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Media Relations, or Public Relations  
- Advanced written and oral communication skills
- Experience working in financial services in an internal or external communications role
- Ability to lead and influence collaboration across the business with a proven track record of liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- French language skills would be an asset


At Zurich Canada, we are committed to pay equity. We determine compensation based on objective criteria such as skills, experience, and internal equity. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. This range reflects the expected pay for the role across Canada and may vary depending on factors like office location, specific responsibilities, and individual qualifications. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable compensation range, but starting salaries may exceed this range based on a candidate’s skills and experience.
